Chocolate Date Hearts
Recipe Description: Makes 10-12 hearts
Ingredients
- 1 cup medjool and al medina dates, pits removed
- 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
- 1/4 cup freeze-dried strawberries
Instructions
- DirectionsLine a plate with parchment paper.
- In a medium microwave-safe bowl, add the chocolate chips and coconut oil. Place in the microwave for 30 second intervals stirring in between each until completely melted. Should take about one minute.
- Place the freeze-dried strawberries in a small plastic baggie and seal. Use your hands or the back of a measuring cup to gently crush and grind the freeze-dried strawberries inside the baggie until they reach a fine powder consistency.
- Take each pitted date and carefully shape it into a heart shape.
- Once all the dates are shaped, carefully dip each date heart into the melted chocolate mixture, ensuring it is fully coated. Use a fork to help coat the dates evenly.
- Place the chocolate-coated date hearts onto the parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Sprinkle the freeze-dried strawberries on top and transfer to the freezer.
- Allow the chocolate date hearts to freeze for at least 30 minutes, or until the chocolate is firm and set. Enjoy!
